We are covered in snow! It happened so suddenly- I mean it wasn’t even cold so far, and the leaves are still very much falling, and most trees aren’t looking too bare.
Then, boom, we are a white city!
All that snow made Sunday a stay at home day for us, except for walks. It was so beautiful- all the fall coloured trees and plants covered in white snow. But the roads are obviously looking yucky already. Aagh…just four and a half months of this left.
Well, we will get through it, wont we? Like we do every single year.
I have decided not to feel conscious or guilty of all the layers I want to wear, or how much warmer my body likes it compared to someone else. I am happy to walk outside in the winter, and it is very important to do so. But to me it is also important that I do so after covering myself well for my needs.
This morning as I was getting ready to go to yoga, I did a quick weather check- -3 degrees feeling like -10!! I went to the basement and grabbed my parka. Once I put that on, I feel pretty invincible. And I was so happy to have it even though it wasn’t as cold as I was imagining it to be. I also doubled up on the bottoms- sweat pants over my leggings. And lastly, my fluffy snow boots. And then, I was good to go for a walk in the dark, on the snow on the ground first thing in the morning.
So that is going to be my mantra this winter- dress as warm as I like without any guilt.
And what really is the guilt about- I mean I am pretty sure there is no one noticing me on the street and judging my layers. Because everyone else is huddled in their own layers, and couldn’t really care.
So let us all dress according to our comfort, and enjoy the weather.
