Unusual Days

Today is an unusual day for me. Right after lunch, I am crossing the town with 4 of my paintings to take them to an art gallery in the east end. And then hang out there at the gallery with some of my other fellow artist friends to help hang all the submitted works for a show that starts tomorrow and lasts a week.

It should be fun. This is something I have never done before so I am looking forward to this new experience. And get behind the scenes of making an art show happen!

But before that, I have to make it to the gym, and come home in time to have a relaxed lunch. Then load up the car with my art babies, and head out.

And hopefully the traffic, coming back home in the evening, will not be crazy…fingers crossed.

The other interesting thing that I did yesterday, was switching up my morning and afternoon tasks. Usually, I go to the gym in the morning, and work in the afternoon. But as I was getting ready to go yesterday morning, it started pouring outside. At that point, staying home and a cup of coffee seemed way more inviting than heading out to work hard.

So I chose to stay home with my cup of coffee. And worked all morning. My plan was to head out to the gym right after lunch. Because I had a hard deadline of lunch, and going to then gym and coming back when my son was back from school, I discovered two things:

  1. I was way more efficient working all morning, and getting all things off my list.
  2. I had way more energy to push hard in the gym.

Maybe it was the cup of coffee, or the fact that it was the morning, I felt like I had more energy to focus and get things done, since Monday is more of an admin day for me. I wonder how a creative day will go in the morning.

And maybe because I had my lunch in my system, I was able to push harder and get my workout done just under an hour (58 minutes to be exact!) even though it was leg day! Yes, I was completely drenched in sweat for a weight training session, but I could keep going. And, maybe it’s in my head, but I feel like the weights seemed a little bit easier than when I go in the mornings…I don’t know- maybe it was just a good day?

I don’t have enough data points to make a conclusion. Just noticing things right now.

I will be giving the switched mornings and afternoons a try atleast once more this week to see how I feel.

Two unusual days for me this week. And Friday is my monthly bookclub- always a treat. Saturday is the opening reception for my art show. So overall an unusual week.

I will have to recap my out-of-ordinary week sometime next week, I guess 🙂
