The weekend, for once in a very long time, had amazing weather. Because prior to this weekend, either the weather was nice, or it was the weekend- they seemed to be mutually exclusive…never to coincide.
But finally The Weather Gods were kind. And it was simply perfect. Warmth and sunshine without too much heat.
I used this opportunity to finally get to my garden. It had grown all weedy, and the plants I actually put there needed fresh soil, and mulch. I put in an hour on Saturday and over two hours on Sunday. So happy that it is finally done. Since the weather was mostly crappy on weekends, and I had Art Tour to prepare for, the garden was the first thing on my list to be ignored prior to now. Not any more.
Other fun things we did this weekend was go out for some lovely Indian food to celebrate Father’s Day. And eat our first barbecue in the backyard on Saturday night.
More Mad Men was watched by the adults, and there is a big twist in the story that just happened in season 6 (second last season)…so I am excited to see where it leads!
In other TV news we finished Great British Bake Off’s latest season…always SO GOOD, and we all watch it together. Which makes it even more special. I love the British sense of humour, and the ease and informality with which people do things there. Canada is more stiff in that way. I wish we would loosen up a bit.
My bookclub book that I am currently reading, The Bookseller of Florence, is dense and slow, even though I am enjoying it. But I am not getting though it as fast as I would like and need to…oh well. I think my bookie friends will still be friends with me if I show up on Friday night for our meeting having read half the book. But it does put a dent on my reading plans for the month. Hopefully I will have time to get through 2 other books in the month, one of them being a Shakespeare play.
And, lastly, even though it was Father’s Day on Sunday I feel very spoiled and thankful. Because my lovely husband encouraged me to go for it…the summer yoga pass! Yes, Sunday was the last day for the discount, and now I have unlimited yoga for the summer. But the class I am going to be attending on the regular is the 6:30 am Mysore class…aack! I know! Which means 5:30 will become my regular wake up time. And that means that I will have to really clean up and tighten up my bed time to be fully rested by 5:30. And I know the first few days will be hard. But, I’ll get there.
Wish me luck!!
