Thankful Thursday is here. And there is lots and lots to be thankful about!
Weather

Finally, it’s feeling warm. Finally I am outside without my jacket. Finally there are flowers everywhere…When I walk outside, and I am not rushing to make my body warm, and finish my walk so I can be inside again…but instead, I talk pleasure in the air on my skin, and walk at a leisurely pace, I feel incredibly grateful for this seasons, for my moving body, for nature.
For Celebrations

My husband celebrated his milestone birthday this weekend. We had a get together at our place, and there was lots to laugh about, lots to eat, and lots of people to celebrate with. In those moments it is hard to not be thankful for all the life and friends we have built, for health, for togetherness, for living this life itself. My son gave a little speech to talk about his dad and to thank everyone for coming to celebrate with us…that was very touching. Oh, and there was SO MUCH FOOD! And cake, and tiramisu…all good things in life. All to be grateful for.
Elections

I know this seems like a funny thing to be thankful for. And no, I am not referring to which political party got elected to manage the country, or who became our prime minister, but rather I am thankful for the peaceful way this country conducted it’s most important business. The respect, even in the face of rivalry, the candidates showed each other. The peaceful transfer of responsibilities in the various ridings that happened all over the country. It is good to live in a country like this where we go about our business and do it with dignity, and respect. I am thankful for that.
For Good Tools

Life is easier with good sturdy things. And I feel like that for my new mechanical pencil. Yes, I know it’s a little thing, but hey, when you hold something in your hand and it doesn’t feel flimsy (like some of the plastic mechanical pencils I have), and it works smoothly, and you know that parts of it wont just break off and the whole thing give out (can you tell, I’ve used some such mechanical pencils in my life?!), don’t you feel thankful for that well made tool? And who knows, it may want to make me write more with my hand too…wouldn’t that be cool. But for now, I am just enjoying it’s great feel in my hand, and loving its bright colour to lift my day 🙂
For my Art Practice

Don’t want to jinx it, but right now, this week, it seems to be coming along nicely. I am excited to get into the studio and be experimental. I want to make quirky things and have fun doing it. I am getting into the flow so that time goes by in a flash, and it just feels good. I am thankful to have that fulfilling feeling with my studio time. And I am looking forward to more experiments and play
