Stories, ideas and musings to make sense of this thing called life..

Thankful Thursday with Warmth and Coziness

Thankful Thursday time 🙂 Let’s see what I can come up with…

For a cozy home…

My messy living room

Now that it’s getting cold, I love being home with a warm drink and maybe a book or a TV show (Succession obsession here!), to spend some low key time relaxing. I am a home body, and would choose being home most times. So I am truly thankful to have a place I’ve called home for almost 15 years, and it’s become more and more ours over the years…

For space heaters!

Can you tell it’s getting cold with the cozy theme here? I love having space heaters in various places in the house, especially for working in my basement studio. That way I don’t have to crank up the heat for the whole house when I only occupy a small area in a room at a time…And their proximity to my feet in my studio and office mean I am very nicely warm- just how I like it!

For chocolates 🙂

My chocolate stash!

We stocked up on our favourite chocolates from Chocosol, which we eat a square of each night as dessert. I am especially in love with this albino cacao variety of chocolate…so when we run out of these, it’s time to stock up. My delight to finish off each day…

For having mixed my colours beforehand

Pre-mixed paint colours making my life easier in the studio

When working for the latest series of paintings, I decided to do things differently and mixed up my colours in big batches before I started painting.

I have to say, this makes life much easier as I just scoop some of each colour out and go to town with focusing just on the painting, and not having to mix colours on the fly all the time…

Of course, sometimes I am looking for that sponteneity, and then it’s good to come up with new colours or mixing the same ones in different tints and shades.

But for this time, I knew it would be one fixed colour scheme, so it helps to have all my colours waiting there to just be used up. Thankful to my 2 weeks younger self who took the time and effort to do this for me 🙂

For touch-screen!

Touchscreens make life easier!

Since I write and blog on my iPad with a keyboard, life seems so simple with its touchscreen. So when I’m trying to help my son with something on his laptops, it’s very frustrating to me that his screens aren’t touch sensitive! It’s much easier to just touch and go where one needs to be on the screen rather than using the touch pad or the arrow keys to go places…so every time I use his devices, or even my desktop computer, I realize how much I love having a touchscreen. And i think its only a matter of time that all screens with have that feature, because they just make sense, don’t they?

Thanks my list for this week. Stay warm!
