Thankful Thursday with An Author, Rain and Food

When I make it to the Thankful Thursdays, I always have a sigh of relief…sigh 🙂

Because these are the easy posts to write…we have lots of blessings to count.

So here we go…

We were Plan-Free all weekend!

Cobweb in our backyard

A weekend with no plans and great weather only means:

relaxing in the backyard,

reading,

sipping coffee, and

totally and utterly decompressing from the week!

I had William Shakespeare’s Richard II for company.

We had walks around the neighbourhood including to our farmers’ market. A few treats- rugalach anyone? – and some produce was bought.

We spent time photographing random things like dried up flowers and cobwebs. We chatted and snacked over some spiced chai…oh it sure was heavenly for the mostly introvert me 🙂

My Bookclub and the exciting Author meeting we had!

We met author C. S. Richardson for our bookclub meeting

If you read my post on Tuesday, my bookclub and I met for our monthly meeting to discuss All the Colour in the World and talk to it’s author C. S. Richardson. We had a great time. He left us all feeling heard and happy. It was a great evening with my friends…

Strawberries!

Strawberries from the farmers’ market

They are still around! They are probably my favourite berries (or they are right now). So I am always excited to see some local organic ones at our market, and had to get them. Now I am using them for their bursts of flavor in my salad…SO GOOD!

Waking up to the sound of Rain

Waking up to rain

I like a sunny day as much as anyone. But one of my joys of life is to hear the pitter-patter of a gentle rain. In our pre-kid days when we lived in a condo downtown in a high rise, I so missed the sound of rain even when I could see it coming down because we were so high up.

So slowly waking up to the soft beat of the rain on the ground is a great gentle way to wake up I think. And that’s what we got on Monday morning after a long time…

Neighbours who share their baking!

Biscottis baked by my neighbour and shared with us

My next door neighbour, who is an auntie to my son, is baking up a storm of biscottis these days…and sharing them with us! How lucky are we?! Since I have gotten busier with things outside the kitchen and not baking much besides the essential these days, it’s great to have these homemade treats once in a while to indulge in…no one is complaining here about these yummy biscottis 🙂

That’s my list for the week…what does your list look like?
