Thankful for Spring and Sprouts

Thankful Thursday is back again. Today I am thankful for…

Themed Posts

The thing with themed weekly posts is that one doesn’t need to think about a fresh topic to write about. Just think of things within that theme, and go on typing…certainly makes my life easier. As I opened my laptop and was wondering what am I going to write about today, it occurred to me that it’s time for a thankful post, and voila…life was simple after that! And so, I am thankful for themed posts that make me not go hunting for fresh topics every day of the week. And that make me realize how much there is to be thankful for in my life.

The Weather

Spring has sprung finally!
Dandelions are in bloom too!

Finally, it’s green and lush outside. Finally, I am just loving walking outside. Finally, there is such joy is looking at all the colours that nature is expressing herself in right now (not the browns and greys of winter!). The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the breeze is pleasing…I just love love love my morning walks, and am going out even earlier and enjoying the beautiful peace and freshness of the morning. And feeling super thankful every moment of that walk.

Mother’s Day Celebration

Mother’s Day dessert was fantastic!
My dessert came like this!

It was all very lovely- the flowers I chose for myself, the relaxing breakfast with hubby at a coffee shop, the not doing much at home, and a stunning dinner to end the night with (it was a culinary delight that we were not expecting!)…so so thankful to my family. And my mum called in the middle of the dinner and we had a nice chat. Not much else to ask for.

My Sprouts

My little sprouting garden
I am in love with my sprouting garden

My sprouting garden is making me wonderful fresh sprouts all the time. I am figuring out the rhythm for us. And getting to know the various seeds and how long they take to sprout. All of this learning along with the amazing nutritional and flavorful benefits of sprouts, and the mindfulness that goes into taking care of them means I feel like I am doing something good for us. Also, they are very filling- unexpectedly so. All that fiber contained in them would do that! So every morning when I am watering my sprouts the first thing after I come downstairs to the kitchen, I am thankful to my little garden, and having this way of starting my day- with intention and gratitude.

My Body

Yoga gives my body such joy
My body makes for a good life for me

One of my neighbours tore her ankle tendon and is chair bound for 3 to 4 months. When I heard this, a shiver ran through me at the thought of not being able to move for that long. It would be quite a spirit killer for me I think. And it’s in such moments that I come to realize how much my body makes my life a good one to live in. To be able to move with ease, and challenge myself to get better at things, to be without pain, to get stronger…all of this that adds to the joy of life is not possible in a broken body. I am thankful for what my body is capable of, and the amount of joy it brings me…

What are you thankful for this week?
