I am posting Thankful Thursday on the right day this week…yay!
Here is what I am thankful for:
Early Morning Mysore Yoga

What a gift the summer pass to my yoga studio has been these last two weeks! I thought it may get too much for me. But knowing I have yoga to go to first thing in the morning makes me jump out of bed and get ready to leave around 6! I know!! The instructor is amazing- she is kind, super knowledgeable, and encouraging. I am having a great time. Even the 5 am alarm is not troubling me because I am so thankful to have this gift of yoga to enjoy…
My son is done with 9th grade!
And it went so well! It’s always terrifying when one’s child steps into a new environment aka high school (in this case). But he had a great year. He did amazing academically, and made some good friends along the way. He’s curious and continuing his own learning in topics he is interested in. And he has a great sense of humour- that always helps! So even though teenage years can be hard, there is so much light in our lives because of him, that both me and my husband feel proud and blessed to have our son’s presence in our lives. And yes, we do have our usual share of parent-teenage arguments and misunderstandings…thankful for ALL of that!
Summer Produce

It’s strawberry season, and asparagus season, and fresh peas season, and cherry season…and I could go on and on! Loving visiting the farmers’ market and enjoying all the local produce. They are the best treats! We Canadians have a very short produce season because of the extreme cold that lasts a long time. But when it is produce season, it is a time for immense joy and gratitude. And I am feeling it all right now.
The Heat Dome has shifted
Monday and Tuesday were HOT in Toronto with temperatures feeling like in mid 40s with the humidity…that is pretty unusual for us. And we were all suffering. Every time I stepped out in the heat of the day, my body would feel heavy and lethargic- like it has forgotten what to do with the heat after being in the cool season for way too long! But thankfully that dreaded heat dome is not on Central Ontario anymore, and walking out is delightful again. So thankful for easy summer once again.
For Tetris!

In my last book Hyperefficient by Mithu Storoni, Tetris got mentioned a couple of times as a great tool for keeping the brain sharp, and giving oneself a break between switching gears or a long session of focused work. I have always been a Tetris fan, so it was easy for me to get into playing it again. And no, I am not obsessing. But rather than scroll through mindless stuff like social media or breaking news, Tetris playing actually makes me feel happy. So I am playing it in sweet and small doses, and enjoying it.
