Today I thought instead of writing a post I would list the favourite moments of my usual day(s). Simple things that bring me joy, and looking forward to them makes any mundane day into a happy and exciting one.
My favourite moments list
- Waking up without alarm on weekends all refreshed.
- My very refreshing morning walk with barely any people around, but the hustle and bustle of birds and squirrels, fresh air and the beautiful morning light.
- Leaving the gym after workout.
- Seeing my beautiful lunch all ready for me to dig in (I prepare it the night before) after the gym.
- My pot of tea that I drink all afternoon as I’m working in the studio.
- Greeting my son hello after school and listening to his stories of the day.
- Sitting down with (more!) tea and peanuts after work to read blogs and my book to rest my mind.
- Watching TV with my family at night, and it morphing into a discussion after.
- Night time decaffeinated coffee that my husband makes for me after all chores and hustles of the day are done.
- Getting in to bed every night.
- The darkness that feels so soothing to my eyes when I turn off the lights at night every night.
So yes, it’s a list of things that would be a normal part of an everyday life. But I feel like my painting them with joy makes my days better than they would be if I considered them as mundane and boring.
I strongly agree that mindset matters.
And, yes it takes reminding. It takes work.
To develop a mindset of painting little moments of life with excitement and happiness.
To look on the bright side, to look for learnings in hard situations.
To take your time to work through your emotions but also coming out on the other side.
But life is learning and growing.
I am failing most times, but still working on it.
And this list is a beginning to that work.
Also, it just makes any day better…so let’s keep going!
