I always start thinking about how I may have been frugal this last week as I start writing this post.
But seriously, I have to start listing them somewhere throughout the week- more efficient use of time, no?
Anyways, here’s my list:
Inheriting my son’s shoes once again!
I am wearing my son’s shoes at home, because, as with his clothes and shoes, he is quickly outgrowing them all! Which means I have lots of shoes and t-shirts to inherit.
These shoes are so nice and cozy for the winters. I have a similar pair from Glerups– in a different style. But with years of use, and multiple mendings I should add, well, they have mostly given out. The sole has become really smooth, so it’s not the safest to walk around in, especially on the stairs.
Which means I am loving these not so used new warm shoes.
No costumes were bought for Halloween…
As always! We pride ourselves in making my son’s costumes from whatever is around the house, or reusing an older hand-made costume.
Because, it certainly is more creative and fun. What is the fun of having a costume, but not having any creative input into it, no?
I like to put on a touch of something too- not a full blown costume, but just a little something to take on another identity for the night, and to mark the occasion.
Library books rock!
I am about to dig in to this treasure trove of 3 short stories by Claire Keegan. Since she has become famous, and rightly so, for her writing, I was afraid it would be a long wait to get this latest book from her for the library. And since we are discussing it this month at my bookclub, well, I seriously need to read it.
So it was a pleasant surprise, when the library was able to provide this book to me. Can’t wait to dig in this weekend! The extra hour from the clocks falling back, and lack of major plans should help with this high-quality free entertainment, right?
Leftovers be consumed!
I am on a mission to get my refrigerator cleaned of leftovers. No making fresh food till I can get all the little containers of a little something over with some creativity. I am finding out that I actually love this challenge…how can I use a little bit of this leftover in an interesting way with something else to make a decent meal? I remember the time I put some left over Indian takeout curry over fried eggs with pieces of paneer for next day’s breakfast…SO YUM!! So with that thought in mind, I am enjoying creatively cleaning out of my refrigerator, plus I am liking how it’s already looking less stuffed than it did a couple of days ago.
Also, less cooking 🙂 👍
Staying away from buying stationary I don’t really need…
I have a stationary problem.
I have this very strong urge to buy sketchbooks and notebooks when I see them.
I remember the thrill of having SO MANY new notebooks to organize and cover when I started a new school year as a child. It was so very exciting.
That thrill remains.
Which means I have a hard time walking past a store that sells good quality notebooks. Or going to the art supply store, admiring all the sketchbooks and pads, and not getting any.
But having this problem also means that I have given in many many times. Which in turn means, I have a whole stash of unused notebooks over the years. Now my challenge is to not buy more, and to make use of these. And to start with using up all the half-used ones.
I am even contemplating turning one of them into my yearly planner for 2025.
Rather than get a fancy Hobonichi Cousin that my heart is desiring, but my head is not liking it’s sticker price.
I will share what I come up with sometime soon. Right now, I am using up a semi-used tiny notebook, that I am teaching myself to carry everywhere (by pairing it up with my phone) to jot down thoughts, ideas, new interesting information etc. (that is a whole other post!). And loving the feeling of getting it used up.
