Stories, ideas and musings to make sense of this thing called life..

Frugal Date night for the win!

Frugal Friday wins from the past week…hmmm…I feel like it was a low key week with not much going on. Which also means fewer opportunities to be frugal. But I am sure I can list some wins, always right?

A five dollar date night with the hubby!

Date night with hubby watching Matty Matheson being interviewed

If you read my post about going to the live podcast recording for TLDR with Matty Matheson? Well, that date night with some awesome entertainment, and drinks and snacks…cost all of $5.80!

Since it was a gift from a lottery that Wealthsimple put out for its clients, there was no costs for any of it. We just paid for parking. What a sweet sweet deal. I am always on top of such lovely offerings 🙂

No books were bought…

Books from the library…no money spent!

Since the Toronto Public Library system is awesome with all the books that I have ever needed (if slow in getting them because everyone else wants the same books!). But yeah, this week I picked up a good haul from the library, which now I actually have to get through!

Prime Days were totally ignored

Prime Days ignored…me being happy about that!

Again, being frugal means not falling for consumerism where none is needed. Well, consumerism is not ever really needed, right? Because, when we buy things that we really need…its not called consumerism.

And just because Amazon is having Prime Days, does not mean I suddenly need things in my life. Although I may start making a list of my needs from a month before, and order them all on Prime Days, but this time, no such needs arose, and I love keeping the money in the bank, thank you very much 🙂

I found sketchbooks

Found some sketchbooks in my stash

And paper in my studio stash this week while looking for other stuff (collage-able papers if you need to know). And suddenly, I felt rich! In paper and sketchbooks! Meaning it’s going to be at least a year if not more before I feel the need to go to my art supply store for sketchbooks and such. I plan to use this stash well, and only buy if I need a particular paper that I’ve run out of. Or better still, run out of all of them! I don’t know about you, reader, but I get this really bad urge to buy the most beautiful sketchbooks when I spot them in the store- they are so very tempting. But I can only use so many at a time, right? And hence, the stash. Also, those urges will be ignored till the said stash gets good use…

Reduced rack win at the grocery store…

Half-priced bread load at my grocery store!

As always, I bought the half-priced day old bread…

Because we finish this loaf over a week, and always toast it.

So it doesn’t make a difference if it’s freshly baked or a day old. And saving a few dollars and some pennies does feel good 🙂

I am thankful to have this fun mindset towards frugality- it makes me happy to find ways of saving, and feeling proud about it!
