I like alliterations. So I figured, if I am going to write about frugality, well, maybe Fridays is a good day to post about that particular topic.
And so,
Frugal Fridays it is!
In the middle of last night, sleep was eluding me for a little while.
Then I started thinking, what would regular writing about frugality bring as benefits to the table. And I came up with a few options. Ok, so it was a whole hour or so of unsleepiness- exasperated by my thinking, perhaps?
Anyways, here is my list as I thought of in the dark of the night:
1. I will have to keep frugality front and centre in my mind and life
I have to have frugality at the top of my mind all week, if I am going to tell you how my week went in terms of being frugal. Which means, I would have to make a good effort of actually spending, or not spending, smartly! And I can make it into a game in my head where I get a virtual thought-brownie, or a high five, every time I do some temptation-control, or find a good deal that makes good sense.
2. It gives me something to write about
I get a topic on the regular to write about that I don’t have to come up with. Blogging win for me is when I don’t have to start from scratch sometimes. Which means, writing about frugality every Friday makes my writing life that much easier!
3. What kind of frugal person am I?
I get to examine my brand of frugality, and how I can get deeper into the idea by thinking about it. Nothing makes me think more clearly than writing about it. And I know, being frugal is not just about cutting costs, or saving money. It is a much deeper concept. It is about getting closer to our humanity, our true nature. So if I get to think about it more and understand it better…hey, good for me!
4. Frugality=Creativity, perhaps?
And finally, being frugal also equates to being more creative, and active probably…What do you think? If I don’t get to buy a fancy looking raised bed (can you tell, its summer and growing time in my neck of the woods?), well, how can I still use stuff around me to grow some vegetables and harness the heat, the sun, the growing power of nature. And maybe growing vegetables is not your idea of being creative, but it could apply to any scenario where having to make do with what we already have, instead of buying a dedicated tool or resource would have to make us think more creatively about our environment, our available resources and how to put them together for best use. Which means writing about frugality on a regular basis would also make me think more creatively. And that is a big win in life.
That’s my list, so far
So there, with these ideas in mind, I proclaim Fridays as being Frugal Fridays on my blog. Hope you enjoy the read. I would love to hear from you.
