It’s Thankful Thursday- the first of 2025 for me!
So much to be thankful for. Coming out of the Holiday Season, I realize that it is such a gift to have my family around me. We traveled, we were lazy, we ate and had a lot of good chats. It really did feel like the holidays, which made getting back to normal this week especially hard!
So here is my list for the week:
My Family
Yup. Holiday season feels like the holidays because it means more time with my boys. We had good times. We had quality times with each other. And we have dreams to flourish together this year. We got to catch up on our individual endeavors. And just the space to be singular humans, and to have each other for support and love…that is the stuff of good life- right?
Traveling to Warmth!
We made it to Mexico for Christmas! How fun was that…the warmth, the food, the luxury of not doing much besides showing up at the pool, or hanging out at the beach, or just reading the day away when all the details of life are taken care of…in a beautiful place too at Playa Maroma. Yes, this holiday was very much appreciated after the non-stop intensity of the Fall. My son learnt to scuba dive and did two dives in the Caribbean Sea. I can’t say I accomplished much at all except maybe keeping up with my yoga practice everyday…And I really planned on doing nothing at all. So it was a successful trip 🙂
Toronto was warm when we got back!
Yes, the temperatures were in the positive for a few days after we got back. Which means our transition from late-twenties temperature in Mexican to winter weather in Canada was pretty smooth…no shocks, no complaining. I thought it was super kind of the weather gods to do this to us, compared to a few days later when they really did dip. And here we are in true Torontonian winter temperatures. And that is ok too. Right?
All the food we ate!
We really indulged ourselves in all the food we ate through the holidays. For once I did not hold myself back in calculating if the food was too high calorie wise, and whether I should eat it or not. I just went for it. And truly enjoyed myself. All the cookies, bagel sandwiches, Mexican food, pizzas…Because I had a plan in place for after the holidays, and because I knew it was only a limited time in my life, I was happily indulging myself. And now, thankfully, I am back to my normal eating self, and happy to be here!
Pizza and Movie Night
Last Friday we got takeout pizza from a lovely Italian place in our neighbourhood: Nodo– and watched the new Wallace and Grommit movie on Netflix…a lovely lazy night at home 🙂 And when my husband and I went to order and pickup the pizza we sat at the bar and had a drink each. It was a truly lazy indulgent evening, besides the walk- which was very welcome after sitting at home all afternoon in the typical lazy holiday fashion… So a mini date followed by a family pizza and movie night with some fantastic pizza and a funny movie…I am thankful!
Food, Weather and Family- that’s my list for the week 🙂
