Fifteen minute chunks count.
I can choose to spend it uselessly scrolling though the funnies on social media.
OR
I can choose to almost write a blog post
OR
I can choose to collect laundry and empty the dishwasher
OR
I can plan my next week
OR
I can read a chapter from my current book
OR
I can do a meditation session
OR
I can scribble a drawing
OR
I can plan or prep my meals for the next day
OR
I can practice my Spanish on Duolingo
OR
I can go for a walk around the block
OR
I can catch up with humans around me
OR
I can brainstorm my way though the next few steps on my current project
OR
I can tidy up some space in my home looking for attention
There is enough to do, but we choose to doomscroll instead.
Even when out and about, we can carry our books, or have a list of blogs we want to catch up on, or brainstorm though ideas, grocery lists, to-dos etc.
We don’t need to know exactly what is happening in everyone’s life all the time.
We don’t need to watch all the funny pet videos.
We don’t need to be up-to-date on celebrity news.
What we do need is to have time and space for our stuff- creative and life managing and connection to humans around us.
I am constantly reminding myself of the power of every 15 minutes. I fail a lot of times. But I also win sometimes, and then I’m amazed at how much can really happen in 15 minutes.
Dreams can be achieved 15 minutes at a time. Since we can’t have a couple of hours every time we need to do something, making those 15 minutes at a time moves the needle just that little bit, and the maintaining of that forward momentum makes sure we are inching forward, slowly but surely.
I wrote this post in 15 minutes. And I thank myself for making these 15 minutes count towards something I want to do, something I have committed myself to do.
Now onto the next 15 minutes of my life…since my lunch for tomorrow won’t prep itself, I better go do that 🙂
