It’s time for Frugal Friday again, and guess what…
It’s my birthday 🙂
I feel like every year for the past 2 years I have been growing by leaps and bounds. I obviously do not mean in height or anything, but just as a person- so much has changed.
Changes I have made happen in my life, and for the better.
Thinking about money as a resource to be used well and effectively, and being frugal is probably the latest edition. It has always been my thing, but sometimes we just forget.
In the rush of life, forgetting one’s values and going with the flow is the easier bit. So to remember what gives me a real kick (in the best way!) is a blessing.
Of course, it takes time to clear one’s mind. To see the path clearly. To not just go with the easiest way forward. And with time, some effort. Effort to turn back from the easy path to the path most right for us.
The path that gives us the most peace and happiness.
I have declared July to mid-December as a No-Buy period for me (and I am hoping it will come back in January again).
Which means buying nothing that is not absolutely needed for my personal self. No clothes, no jewelry (my weakness is the hand-made kind), no books, no shoes, nothing. Until it is absolutely needed: if I break my snow boots, I will have to go and buy one, right? Because…
I surely have everything I already need to run my life smoothly and with dignity.
It sure is more peaceful in my head. Knowing that I don’t need to get tempted by all the things I see on Instagram, or Amazon, or walking in a mall.
Nothing.
It’s just looking and moving on.
My wallet is happy, and so am I.
All the promotional emails with deals and sales get swiped off to be deleted without being opened.
The joy of being frugal is having the space it creates in my mind, in my home, in my time. I have more time, which means I can start a blog (I did!!), or go for a walk, or read more. Or draw 🙂
I think it is the gift of this joy that I consider one of the big gifts I have given myself this past (almost) two months.
I feel wiser, I feel calmer, I feel blessed to be able to go on a frugal journey of my own choosing.
