This week is pretty bonkers…atleast the last 3 days. I am running from one thing to the other, juggling things making sure I get where I need to get to, and that rest of the life still runs smoothly.
The art show preparation, the earlier time for getting to the yoga studio (I’m opening the place at 6 am the next 3 weeks), gym, and kitchen are mostly my time hogs.
Tomorrow (Friday) is looking less crazy, and I am thankful for that. And I get to end this crazy week with dinner with friends tomorrow.
There is a lot of things I am appreciating this week.
Podcast
I finally listened to Taylor Swift’s podcast interview on New Heights with his fiancé and his brother. This was 2 hour long podcast, so I listened to it over 3 days. But it was very interesting and motivational to hear her passion for her work, her enthusiasm for the creative process and just how she goes about it. And she comes across as a very sensible young woman doing what she loves with such commitment while keeping the noise out (which she has TOO MUCH around her). We can all learn from her- both as keeping sane with monumental success, and as a leader of her team.
Book
I finished listening to Green Teeth by Molly O’Neill. This book was a little treat- a fantastical adventure with goblins, fairies and water monster along with other fairy folk. The story is rooted in English folklore and myth, and is about friendship. It was not a stressful, but a very entertaining book read really well by Catrin Walker-Booth. I really enjoyed my time with the main characters of the books, and the exciting/unexpected ending put a nice ribbon on this fantasy story.
My Art Show
I am participating in a group art show called North by West at Northern Contemporary Gallery in Roncesvalles here in Toronto, that started yesterday and goes on for a week. Some of us artists hung out yesterday morning at the gallery hanging up the works. We had great camaraderie doing it, and it was very satisfying to see the show come together. This evening is the opening reception. I am excited to go, and to see the final put together/cleaned up version of the show. So happy to be able to participate in this event with such amazing people and artists.
Leftovers!
This week has mostly been leftovers for dinner. Yes, there’s been enough food at home that I have not had to cook much. The weekend was busy with a number of food prep, so I was happy to take a few days off of cooking. With everything else running on the crazy side, cooking is not something I’ve had to worry about. But kitchen work doesn’t really end coz there’s still been preparing lunches, and making sure there’s stuff for that. But any help is appreciated!
My Ear Infection update
After 3 different medications, and over a month of having an infected ear, and four visits to the doctor (and 1 more to come), I seem to have finally done with this crazy ear infection. We started with antibiotic drops, then figured out it was a fungal infection and got drops for that. Finally it was the anti-fungal capsules that did the trick. Now I have to go back to the doctor to get the debris flushed out. I am so thankful to have the clinic 7 minute walk from my home. And after yoga in the morning just as the clinic is opening has been a great time to go in for a short wait time. Also, always having a book to read has made the waiting very bearable (and kind of welcome too!!)
These are things making me happy.
And another small thing is that I seemed to have lost my big bottles of maple syrup that we picked up a farm up north. I couldn’t find it anywhere and it was making me so very sad! Thankfully my husband found them. It’s amazing how much emotion was tied up for me in that amazing maple syrup…which, in my humble opinion, is a gift of god (along with chocolate and coffee), and only the best sweetener on the planet! I guess I am a proud Canadian maple syrup lover (and I didn’t even know this stuff existed till I was 21!)
Ok, that’s enough from me.
