This weekend was exactly what I needed…at home, no big plans, just time to catch up on things, and most importantly, SLEEP!
For the first time in over two weeks I feel like I don’t need a nap soon after waking up. No, I didn’t sleep in or anything, but just went to bed on time, and woke up when my eyes naturally opened, and did not want to close again.
Also, I decided to skip my 8:30 am yoga class on Saturday morning. Just so there was no rushing. Instead I went to a 7:45 am class on Sunday morning when I was completely rested from Saturday’s zero plan day. And it was fabulous.
My weekend started with Friday night’s hosting (at my friend’s place) of our monthly book club meeting. We discussed my book choice- Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse. And to honour the British book, my friend graciously made classic strawberry trifle on my request, because she’s made it before, and it was oh so good! And this time was just as good…maybe even better because she made them in individual stemless wine glasses, and the servings were generous. She did not expect us to finish our servings, but soon enough all the empty glasses were staring at us unbelievably from the coffee table 🙂 Yup, it was great!
After that relaxing and fun evening, the weekend went smoothly and with ease. With a farmers’ market visit on Saturday morning, followed by watching multiple episodes of Mad Men, working on attaching hardware to my paintings for next week’s studio tour, to eating left overs for dinner…an ideal rainy Saturday. And same with Sunday, except I went to my yoga class, and we went out for some Mexican dinner. But we did manage to have our brunch outside in the backyard before the rain came. And I caught up on food prep for the week as well.
This relaxing weekend, before the all weekend Studio Tour next weekend was ideal. I have things under control (mostly!) for next weekend, and knowing it will be busy, I won’t be putting any pressure on myself to get much else done then.
But for now…it was lovely, I am well slept, I am prepped for the week, and Monday Grace is serving me well…
