Thankful Thursday on Halloween and Diwali…lots to celebrate right?
Let’s go!
To have a wonderful night out
with my bookclub friends to watch Canadian Stage’s production of My Name is Lucy Barton (read about my take on the play here), and dinner downtown. We had read the book a while ago, and were very excited to go watch this play.
It did not disappoint.
This one actor play was so tightly woven together that our attention did not waver in all it’s minimalist aesthetics.
And of course, dinner was wonderful with my friends who I’ve known for close to a decade now, sharing a ton of books and life over the years.
A massage…
It’s always a treat for me to get a deep tissue massage from my regular masseuse. She has lovely hands. The pressure is just right. She knows my trouble spots. And seriously, no one does the neck and shoulders like her. So happy I booked one and got it, because my body was feeling it.
My new art series…
is slowly coming along! I am all prepped up with the wood panels all ready with my materials, and some rough sketches as an idea of what I am going to do. And for the first time ever I am trying out mixing my paint colours in bulk in advance. So I can just keep painting without stopping to mix colours all the time. All the new ways of doing things, experimenting, and going along…keeps life interesting.
And interesting is motivating, no?
I am absolutely loving spending some quality time in my studio after the hubbub of summer and an unsettled start to fall. But here I finally am!
For celebrations…
Today is Diwali. Our biggest festival. We will light up our home with candles, and we will light some sparklers, eat good food, and count our blessings tonight. I am thankful to have a lovely family to celebrate with.
Also Halloween!
Which means a constant parade of little humans in costumes, and outrageously decorated homes. That sort of entertainment for free…
The neighbourhood getting together in good cheer, laughing and smiling, and cute little people in creative get-ups…I am thankful to have this lovely neighbourhood and to partake in Halloween with them.
