Today is a good day for Gratitude

The words Thankful Thursdays just roll off the tongue easily. That is what the theme of today’s writing is about, as I have decided. So here we go with five things I am grateful for from this past week:

The weather has cooled off a little bit

No more days of sweaty palms and air conditioned nights. My favourite way to sleep is with the windows open, and a tiny bit of chill. And night which makes my quilt the perfect place to get cozy in.  Don’t we all keep hearing about the research that sleeping in a cool environment is the best? Cool not cold- as I know from experience!

My son is off camping for two weeks

He’s doing his thing- he loves the outdoors, he loves the community he is with- both his friends and the staff, he’s getting more resilient.

AND

We parents get to be just a couple for a few days….which may or may not involve eating in front of TV, or catching up on the latest season of House of Dragons, or planning a DO-NOTHING day for the weekend…

Win win!!

No Grocery Shopping!

I am trying to clean out my fridge for the next two weeks. Which means I have to do with what’s around. But that also means, I am denied one of my most detested jobs of housekeeping- grocery shopping! Yes, I find it pretty tedious to shop and then put away groceries. So if I can avoid it for a couple of weeks- they are great weeks in my book 🙂

My morning walks and post-dinner walks

Summer time walks are the best- no putting on jackets and bracing up for the cold on the face…just to put on shoes and walk outside- wow, life is so simple and amazing! And not to mention, the birds, the trees, the quiet (of the morning), the gentle breeze, and good company sometimes (when my husband joins me)…my daily bliss, really.

All the local produce that I can’t get enough of!

Oh the bounty! It’s so so hard to walk through a farmer’s market in the summer and not get tempted by all the fresh produce on display…this is what happened when we were in Ottawa over the Simcoe Day long weekend, and had no intention of buying anything as we were not really home…but guess what- I bought a big crate full of wild blueberries, and carted them home the next day. Most of it now sits in the freezer to be used over the year. It sure was an impulse purchase, all because we could not resist the beauty of local seasonal produce…

There it is- my gratitude list for the day…

Can you list five things you are thankful for TODAY?
