Stories, ideas and musings to make sense of this thing called life..

It’s Only Wednesday?

It’s the middle of the work week. This is when I am starting to feel tired, but the weekend is still a way away.

This is when looking for or building in little pieces of joy or comfort in my days helps me move forward with a more positive outlook on life.

Here are some little joys of my life for the next 3 days that I am looking forward to (and that will help me not wish these days away….because they too are life, and can be made richer by a mindset change rather than be drudgery):

Finishing up my Audiobook

Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. I have just over 2 hours left, and it’s the most unusual murder mystery I have ever listened to or read. There is a murder mystery book that an author is writing, but then he dies, and we find parallels between his life and books he wrote, including incidents around his own death. The two narratives- real life of the author, and his latest book- break up the book, and both are interesting. I am at the page turner stage of the book wondering how it will all end!

Breakfast date with hubby, and coffee date with my son

These are built-in connection points one-on-one with my family, and always a joy. And they help make the work week a little easier and give us something to look forward to…

Bookclub with my friends!

That’s Friday night, and we are discussing Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper. The book discussions are great, the treats are amazing, but the company is the best…catching up once a month for laughs, for companionship, and for discussing non-serious but super interesting things (books) is a big joy of my month, and I’m glad it’s this week!

No Cooking tonight

I have enough leftovers for dinner, and it will just be me and my son…so this evening will be a relaxed affair. Maybe I’ll finally get a move on my Shakespeare read of the month. Life last week was super hectic so I was finding it hard to get into the book. Maybe tonight is the night when I bite off a juicy chunk off Richard III finally!

Naps

I have been taking a quick 15-20 minute nap most afternoons during the week right on my couch, and it has been super delightful…I don’t know when I drift out, but a few minutes later I wake up all refreshed…it feels like magic! And I look forward to it each day…

Making this list has already made my spirits soar. Even something as small as a cup of coffee or eating a treat like a date is a mood lifter. And I am always looking forward to these little joys.

How are you feeling this Wednesday morning?
