Stories, ideas and musings to make sense of this thing called life..

Busy Weekedays

I am feeling like my days are completely booked from the moment I wake up to the moment I hit the bed…every minute is accounted for. Yes, 8-9:30 pm is clumped up as family/relaxing time, but I do need that unwinding time.

But other than that, I am off from one thing to the other. No time to fit in anything extra in my life right now.

And this is mostly because I have put a big chunk of yoga in my days.

Having my yoga practice from 6 to 7:30 am means I have to be up within a minute or two after my alarm clock goes off. After yoga is followed by me having a brisk walk home, and then to make sure I have breakfast ready for my son before he leaves for school at 8:20. And that means I have to prep (or atleast have an easy plan) for his breakfast and lunch the night before. And the same goes for the adults’ breakfast and lunches.

Which means that my time in the kitchen every evening now consists of preparing dinner, as always, along with prepping breakfast and lunches for the next day. So that when I come home at 7:45-7:50 after yoga, I am not panicking about food to give my son.

Yes, it’s a lot of work for my late afternoon-evening kitchen time, but I like having gotten all of it done in one swoop. And having podcasts to listen to make my time in the kitchen enjoyable.

And of course, all of this because I really want yoga in my life. I am thoroughly enjoying my time, my growth, and the community at my yoga studio. So I did have to make a good attempt at fitting it in in my day, but not slack off on other responsibilities.

After my breakfast, and coffee, and writing for this blog, I am off to the gym to lift some weights. That is followed by lunch, plus the added relaxing activity of having a quick lie-down right after lunch, on my couch. The early wake-ups for yoga means I just need that 20 minutes of rest every afternoon. And it’s a good way to break my day from physical first part of the day, to getting to work in the second part of the day.

And as soon as I am done with work around 4:30-5…it’s straight to the kitchen to get all the meals prepared. Followed by dinner and family/wind-down time.

So yes, I have had to change things around, and mostly just add to my day. And I do not mind it. But two things that seem to get squeezed out are reading, and house cleaning.

I am reading the same book for over 2 weeks now, which is super-slow for me. And it’s not because the book is boring, but only because I can’t seem to find the time to pick it up enough.

House cleaning is something I detest the most on any day. So it is easily squeezed out of my day, but then I also look around and see the mess and want to clean up. I have to get back to my 15 minutes after dinner (or before, if there’s time) everyday again. Small and often is something that has helped me in the past to keep the house tidy. Ah well, I just have to get it done, I suppose, no matter how much I dislike doing it…sigh…

So yes, that is my busy weekday schedule. I hope I don’t get tired of it. Because, right now it’s working. It makes the week go by quickly, and I certainly see the value that my regular in-person yoga classes are providing me. Which means, I want to keep it. Which means busyness is the name of my daily game.

Wish me luck!
