After a long time, I am writing a post about Thankful Thursday. I have decided to call them Appreciation Thursday, rather than Thankful Thursday, becasue there are some things that just make me happy, or help me appreciate life. And I would also like to acknowledge those here in my list as well. Here is my list right now:
A Busy Kitchen

I have been on top of making things- prepping food for the week, making yogurt on repeat, sprouting, fermenting, preserving some of the summer bounty, baking bread and treat, and of course, making meals everyday (including homemade gnocchi in sage butter sauce last Saturday!).
I am very thankful for my kitchen and all the groceries we can afford, for the good health that comes from eating home cooked food with the best ingredients.
Sopranos!

Yes, this is our guilty pleasure right now…we are finally catching up with this classic after hearing great things about it for years and years. Now I know what the hullabaloo is about…and we can’t stop watching it. The best part is that in this mafia life drama there are so many moments that make me keep thinking about the characters and their choices. The acting is of course, top notch. My husband and I really enjoying this right now.
A Delightful Book

My book club read for this month is “Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper. This book has also been nominated for Canada Reads 2025. And it’s a delightful little book about 3 characters who have long deep connections and one of them decides to go on a long walk through the width of Canada to see the ocean at the age of 83. The book goes through the reactions of the other characters when this happens, and also through the back story of how these characters came to be connected together in the first place. The writing is sublime. The characters are endearing. There is no big drama (atleast as far as I’ve gotten!), but you as the reader just want to know them and their lives.
I am slowly enjoying this book, and am thankful for my book club friend to have picked it for us to read.
For all the local produce right now

This is the time of the year when I go to the grocery store (or the farmers’ market) and I have trouble picking fruits and vegetables, because the choices are enormous! Everything is local and fresh and looks SO DELICIOUS! I can’t buy and consume it all, so I have to choose. I both dislike this, and love this about this season…you know what I mean?
For Early Wakeups
Yes, I am not too happy when my alarm goes off at 4:45. But it’s not as hard as it used to be. I am mostly rested, and I have a set pattern of my first hour of the morning involving meditation, morning pages, getting dressed, having my supplements, watering my sprouts, and doing my Duolingo lesson before I leave for yoga. Once I sit up to do my meditation, this hour just flows, and there is a certain calm and ritualistic feel to it. I love that. This time with me and myself, without any other distractions. The morning peace has a very special quality, and I am so glad I am enjoying this…I guess I would call it my morning routine? I would rather call it my morning ritual though…
Thats what I am enjoying in my life right now…what about you?
