Thankful Thursday with Summer and Media

Thankful Thursday time!

The Weather

The perfect June weather
The weather is PERFECT right now!

Finally it’s warm. And not hot…it’s perfect temperatures, and nice breeze. That slight coolness at nights and in the mornings is delightful. Sweaters are not needed. But I am not sweaty either. If I could, I would hold on to this weather for a long time. But I know it’s short lived. So I am thankful it is here, and I am enjoying it every day…

For Meals outside

Eating outside is a all summer tradition for us
We love our meals outside

Yes, that time of the year is here when our dining table gets really useless because we eat out so much. And it’s not wasp season yet. So eating outside is fun and different. Again, summer is so short here that every day we eat outside is a blessing that I am so very thankful for.

For cheap learning

Loving my Udemy app to learn skills to move my business needle forward.
My Udemy App

Since learning marketing is big on my agenda for the rest of this year, I am looking for courses to learn to market using different platforms, and tightening up my website’s SEO etc. And getting courses from individuals can be very pricey because they set up fancy learning platforms and laid out templates and a ton of bonuses. I find that I get lost in all that information…I start such courses with great enthusiasm, but somewhere down the king there is so much information given to me, and the course drags on for ever that I give up. I get completely turned off. That’s where cheap but still full of great information on platforms such as Udemy come in handy. I love that they just have the relevant information, for $20 or less, and I can just go with it swiftly. No drama of a ton of extras or beautiful templates etc. And I can cobble up my own curriculum rather than getting bogged down with EVERYTHING in one place even though I may not need all of it.

For dinner date with my son

Dinner date with my son
Turkish dinner with my teenager!

This happens very rarely that I go for dinner just with my son. We have our after school coffee shop dates, but not a nice dinner. So when my husband was out of town on Saturday night, I had a very lovely Turkish dinner with my teenager followed by going to our icecream shop. It was one delightful evening. I am thankful that we have money and nice restaurants to go to. And to have my son’s company.

For Media that make me feel and think

I just finished Abundance, a historical fiction about the life of Marie Antoinette written by Sena Naslund. And I am listening to the French Revolution series on the Rest is History Podcast. Both these resources (and hopefully added with some movies shortly) are giving me a great idea of what the French Revolution was about, because before going to Versailles back in March, I had zero idea! Thinking about the life of Marie Antoinette, I see complexity of having grown up in such splendor without guidance of a parent and with such responsibility of being a dauphine and then a queen. No wonder it was hard for her to have clear perspective on things. And then her life turned really dark when she did starting getting a grip on reality…I feel for her. And that is the magic of learning and literature. So thankful that I am able to do my own learning when some topic is of interest to me…cannot imagine a life without learning, seriously!
